J WINTER, aka JIM WINTER, aka JAMES R. WINTER, aka THE EVIL J WINTER is an author, reviewer, and standup comic originally from Cleveland. Through a strange and bizarre twist of fate, he ended up in Cincinnati in 1991, hoping to replace Dr. Johnny Fever on WKRP. His hopes were dashed when he learned WKRP was only a television show and he would never get to work with Lonnie Anderson. After a long and varied career that includes getting fired from several factories, serving pizza to various drunks on Cincinnati's east side, suffering the hell that is retail electronics, J ended landed as a computer technician in the exciting world specialty insurance.

He made his bones as a crime writer in 2001 when the late, lamented Plots With Guns ran his debut short story "A Walk in the Rain." In 2005, he allegedly published his first novel, Northcoast Shakedown , a tale of sex, lies, and insurance fraud in the Rock and Roll Capital. He is a regular contributor to January Magazine and Crimespree . His short fiction has appeared in Pulp Pusher , Spinetingler , and Thrilling Detective .

J lives in suburban Cincinnati and is chained to a downtown desk 40 hours a week at an insurance company.
